Lawrence County A.B.A.T.E. News and Highlights

News About Our Members And Activities

Welcome to the Lawrence County Chapter website. We hope to make
this an informative site for all who see it. The purpose of this site
is to let you know what we are about and what we do.
Although we are a political rights organization we like to have fun too.
Hopefully, you will join us for the many events that we are planning
to be involved in this summer, and if you are not already an A.B.A.T.E. member
maybe you will consider joining our Chapter after you get to know us.
Either way, we thank you for checking us out and pray you have a safe riding season.

Thoughts From Our President - Tim

I hope everybody has supported their Chapter and our District sponsors by purchasing an All Summer Poker Run Book and are busy filling it with stamps. Thank you to Venango County Chapter for sponsoring two stops. I hope our District II members will be able to check out your events. Congratulations to Butler County for selling the most stops and winning the District trophy for this year. I guess we will have to wait until next year to take it home.

OK, let’s get saddled up to ride to Freedom Weekend and the Rights Rally on the weekend of 5/9 to 5/11. I’ll be leaving the morning of 5/10 and arriving at the V.F.W. Grounds in the afternoon. Anyone who wants to ride along, give me a call and don’t forget the Chapter will cover our entry fee. We’ll head for the Capital on Monday morning and be home that night. Don’t miss out on a good time and a very important event. We’ll be showing support for our biker friendly legislators while showing the "Bad Guys" in Harrisburg we’re not going away. This year’s rally will be dedicated to the memory of Lt. Governor Catherine Baker-Knoll. We should all make an extra effort to attend this year to show our appreciation for what she has done for us.

It’s the time of year when everybody is itching to ride and bike nights are popping up faster than the dandelions in my yard. Make sure the scoot is prepped and ready for the road. While you’re at it make sure you are too. Maybe check out a motorcycle safety course. Then when you are deciding where to ride to and where to spend some money, keep in mind the businesses that support A.B.A.T.E. and motorcyclist rights. We’re all in this together!

Ride On, Tim

Visit With Our Veterans
February 15, 2009

We had the privilege of visiting with many of our Veterans at the
VA Hospital in Butler Pennsylvania. Music was provided by the
Thistle and Lion Highlanders bagpipe group and cookies and
cake were also provided to the veterans. We were honored to
meet such heroes and plan to visit with them again this year if possible.

Chapter Patches

We finally got our Chapter Patches in and they're great.
If you come to a meeting you get your first one for free.
If you want a patch without coming to a meeting or if you
wish to buy additional patches they are just $5.00 each.

Collection For Our Veterans

Our Chapter is collecting items to give to our veterans in the
Butler Veterans Hospital. We are collecting the items at our monthly
Chapter meetings and the items are being delivered and dispersed to our veterans as needed. Examples of items to donate are shampoo, soap, disposable razors, socks, sweatpants, microwave popcorn, magazines (hunting, fishing, motorcycle, etc.), books, and pajamas. Many of these veterans do not have family to provide these types of items to them so let's show them our appreciation for their service to our country and their willingness to fight for our freedom by providing these items to them. Also, we will be going down to visit with the veterans on February 15, 2009. Please check back for more details and click the button below for the list of items we are collecting.

Fun Run and Chicken Dinner Benefit - October 2008

The Benefit for Wild Bill's sister, Ronalyn Eppinger, was a great success thanks to all who attended and those who worked so hard behind the scenes. Everyone had a great time, the weather was terrific, the food was fantastic, and the ride enjoyed by all. Don't forget to check out the pictures.

Adopt A Highway Clean Up
Sept. 14, 2008

Our members again put on the gloves, grabbed the garbage bags, and headed out to clean our designated stretch of roadway on Wilmington Road (State Route 18) from Clen Moore Blvd. to Maitland Lane on September 14, 2008. We had beautiful weather and again managed to do the job in just one hour. We even had a contest for finding the most unique item. Although we are not sure who the winner was, among the unique items found were winter ear muffs, a fake finger nail painted bright pink, and silverware. Dixie even found some money. Thanks to all who helped and we hope to see the rest of you at the next clean up in November.

CONGRATULATIONS TO KATIE

Katie, our Chapter Secretary, has just
graduated from Mohawk High School
where she recently attended her Prom.
We have, of course without her
knowledge, managed to get a picture of her so we could post it on our website.
As you can see, our female Chapter members have both beauty and brains.
Katie, we are proud of your accomplishment and we wish you
the best of luck as you move
on to Westminster College.
