Lawrence County A.B.A.T.E. News and Highlights

News About Our Members And Activities

Welcome to the Lawrence County Chapter website. We hope to make
this an informative site for all who see it. The purpose of this site
is to let you know what we are about and what we do.
Although we are a political rights organization we like to have fun too.
Hopefully, you will join us for the many events that we are planning
to be involved in this summer, and if you are not already an A.B.A.T.E. member
maybe you will consider joining our Chapter after you get to know us.
Either way, we thank you for checking us out and pray you have a safe riding season.

Adopt A Highway Clean Up Set for Sept. 14

Our members are set to clean our designated stretch of roadway on Wilmington Road
(State Route 18) from Clen Moore Blvd. to Maitland Lane on September 14, 2008.
This is an important activity as it makes the roads safer for us to ride on.
Anyone wanting to help should join us at 1:00 pm in the parking lot of the Penn DOT
garage on Wilmington Road. The more hands we have the faster the job gets done.
Plus, we have a lot of fun while we're at it and you may even find a treasure.

Summer Raffle Was A Success!

Winners were determined by the Pennsylvania Daily Lottery 3 Digit, 7:00 pm drawings on July 12, 13, and 14, 2008. The July 12th winner of a California Coolster 150cc Utility Quad, was Joe Romano. The July 13th winner was John Skuta who received a $100.00 shopping spree at the New Castle Shop 'N Save. And the July 14th winner was Sam Mielke, who received a one year membership to A.B.A.T.E. of PA.
Congratulations to all the winners.

CONGRATULATIONS TO KATIE

Katie, our Chapter Secretary, has just
graduated from Mohawk High School
where she recently attended her Prom.
We have, of course without her
knowledge, managed to get a picture of her so we could post it on our website.
As you can see, our female Chapter members have both beauty and brains.
Katie, we are proud of your accomplishment and we wish you
the best of luck as you move
on to Westminster College.

Thoughts From Our President - Tim

Wow! What a party! Hazen 2008 was the best yet. We had more people, more jello shots, more food, & more fun than should be allowed by law. Come to think of it, maybe some of it wasn’t. Josh & Bob did their security detail at noon and then the real fiesta started. The marinated and grilled deer meat with pasta and potato salad on Friday night was superb. I was also invited to Clarion County’s camp for jumbo hotdogs and smoked chicken. Saturday morning’s champagne breakfast with Butler County was great, as always. That sure cleared a lot of the cobwebs away from Friday’s party. Then we went on a ride to Benezette for showers and a stop at K.C. and Tammy’s camp for a cold Straub’s. That was a good primer for Saturday’s party. Then it was back to Hazen for burgers, dogs & more cold beer for lunch. After some hard partying and a little trolling it was suppertime. On Saturday’s menu was fried walleye, salads, & oh yes, more cold beer. You know you have a good party going when rain and the threat of a tornado won’t stop it! Thanks to everybody for catching, preparing, and cooking all of the food and hauling all our stuff. We sure have our work cut out for us if we’re going to top all that next year.

Next up we are going to have a booth at Buffalo Hollow in Petersburg, Ohio the weekend of 8/7 to 8/9. We will also be helping with security and crowd control. They will be having five bands over three days plus a bike show, rodeo games, vendors, and "T-Shirt" contests. Any questions call me or call Eric Beight at 1-888-819-7705.

June’s meeting was our best attended meeting in quite some time. That shows me that with the good people we have involved we are turning things around and more of our members are interested in what we are accomplishing. And here is one more reason to come to a meeting. Our incentive jackpot is up over $100.00 again. Come on out and help us plan our fall and winter events and maybe you will go home with a $100.00 bill in your pocket. Just think. That would be 4 more years membership, or a Bike PAC donation, or 3 Hazen tickets, or…

Ride On, Tim

Adopt A Highway Clean Up

Our members were busy helping to clean up our roads on April 6, 2008. Since clean roadways are safer roadways for all motorists, our Chapter decided to do its part in keeping our roadways safe by adopting a stretch of road to clean. After receiving approval from Penn DOT, we were assigned the stretch of Wilmington Road (State Route 18) from Clen Moore Blvd. to Maitland Lane. It's amazing how much stuff is laying along our roadways. We hope that our actions will be an inspiration to others to help clean up our roadways so we can ride safely.
Don't forget to check out the photos.
